DCS has opportunities to participate in various fine arts in the school. Students can take music, art, and speech during classes throughout the day. Lessons for strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, and voice. Choirs, group strings, and band are also available. Students also have opportunities to perform in speech during various programs and fine arts contests.
Senior High Fine Arts Contest
9th-12th grade students have the opportunity every year to compete in the annual fine arts contest with other schools from the Sunshine Association of Christian Schools. There are numerous categories of music, speech, Bible, Academic, and Science Fair projects.
Every other year the DCS band joins several other schools from around the state for a band festival. The students work for two days on several numbers and then perform them in a concert on Friday evening. There are two bands, both Junior High and Senior High. The conductors are well-qualified clinicians from various parts of the country. Students are challenged with difficult music, yet it is always a fun experience.
Jr. High/Elementary Fine Arts Festival
The Junior High/Elementary Fine Arts Festival is for students in grades 4th-8th grade. They have opportunities to compete in music, speech, Bible and academic categories. Students may also participate in a national creative writing and poetry contest. This is a great way for kids to start learning and applying their skills in a judging situation as well as see others their own age from other schools.
